Water fun, is the best type of fun, but pools are expensive and trekking through the hills to get to the nearest spring is not always fun. Basically, I get lazy, just like everyone else. As a dad, my laziness effects others, so I have learnt how do enjoy my laziness and have my children enjoy it as well.
So when I don’t want to do too much I take the kids to Park Teddy for a day of water fun.
Park Teddy is this small park near the Mamilla Mall that basically consists of water fountains that shoot up out of the ground.
Because I am being lazy in this post, I will not tell you to pack bathing suits, just pack a second pair of clothes for everyone…they will get wet. Make sure everyone has a hat and a water bottle. Oh, don’t forget a towel or two, as i said before, they will get wet. If you are feeling extra energetic, pack food and have a picnic there while you wait for the fountains to start. Otherwise check the times on their website, and pick up food on the way or the way back. Remember, it’s a five minute walk away from Mamilla mall , and a ten minute walk from town. There are plenty of places to get food.
Do you remember running through the sprinklers as a kid? This is the same but on a much larger scale. The fountains are on for about 30 minutes at a time before they take a 30 minute break. Again, check the hours, you could end up sitting around for quite some time if you got them wrong!.
There are other areas there in which the children can run around as well…at least mine did.
I have been during the day and in the evening and the temperature outside is the biggest factor. Did I mention that they will get wet? They will ,so make sure that you bear that in mind. The last time we went was at night, and in addition to the fountains, which the kids love, they have lights as well.
Feeling extra adventurous? Park and take the train!
